CNY Short Film Competition
2021-2022

The CNY Short Film Competition has just completed the judging of more than 70 applicants for this year’s competition. Our panelists of industry professionals have selected the four films that will receive funding this year.

Check back soon for news and updates on these productions as they film in Central New York over the Spring and Summer of 2022.

The CNY Short Film Competition is an industry incubator for aspiring filmmakers connected to the Central New York region, either through residency or attendance at a regional college or university.

The program provides a unique opportunity for four aspiring CNY filmmakers to work with industry professionals serving in a mentorship role, assisting and guiding the winners through a challenging week-long production in Central New York. Each winner is given access to $40,000 in funding to convert their winning script into a professionally developed short film.

Winners receive the value of knowledge and experience from experienced producers who guide the panel-selected winners through an initial Production Boot Camp training course, then integrate guidance and advice from the pre-production process to final film festival submissions.

The winners will maintain full rights to their short film, allowing them to enter the industry with a product that highlights their work and reflects the quality of our regional colleges and universities.
